  • Every major update will be supported for a minimum of three years. The specific date when support ends will be provided in the Support Platform table.
  • Major updates are denoted by the first digit of the OS version (e.g., 1.y.z, 2.y.z).
  • Minor updates are denoted by the second digit of the OS version (e.g. x.1.z, x.2.z). Minor updates may include minor features, stability fixes, and security patches.
  • Some minor updates may only include stability fixes and security patches and will be versioned by the third digit of the OS version (e.g., x.y.1, x.y.2).
  • We expect developers to push all such minor updates to the devices within a reasonable period of time.
  • Android Things Console will continue to allow Developers to push OEM apps/APK updates at any time, even after updates for Android Things ends.
