Gyro effects

Add movement to your watch face to help your design stand out. Gyro effects change the appearance of your watch face as you tilt your watch.

Gyro effects let you adjust the dimensions, inner pivot positions, rotation, and opacity of objects in your watch face.

Click GYRO in the properties window to tweak the X and Y rotation dimensions of independent objects to create 3D effects for your watch face. There are two different sections for applying gyro effects: the X-AXIS and Y-AXIS. The X-AXIS and Y-AXIS allow you to control the properties when the watch rotates along the X and Y axes respectively.

The watch gyroscope

Gyro effects are applied as the watch moves within the -90º to 90º range along the X and Y axes. The watch is considered level when it is at 0º.

You can also design Watch faces that change appearance when the watch moves clockwise or counter-clockwise.

When wearing your watch on your left wrist, if your watch is rotated 90º upwards (counter-clockwise) along the X axis, this is displayed as -90º. When the watch is rotated 90º downwards (clockwise) along the X axis, this is displayed as 90º.

When wearing your watch on your left wrist, if your watch is rotated 90º to the left along the Y axis, this is displayed as -90º. When the watch is rotated 90º to the right along the Y axis, this is displayed as 90º.

Range

Set range values that will be used to calculate how much the elements will rotate. For example, if you enter values of -90 and +90, to allow a pivot range of -90º to 90º, then inner_pivot_x would be 80 pixels to the right of the base value when the watch is rotated 80º.

Additional properties for Gyro mode include the following:

  • Scale: Enlarge and shrink an object in relation to a point at its center. The point remains in the same position while the object gets bigger or smaller.
  • Displacement: Change the position of an object using a point at its center. The value of the Position input field is based on the center of the object.
  • Rotate: Rotate an object based on a point at its center. Rotations will not change the position of the object.
