You complete this declaration process\nwhile preparing your app for publishing on Google Play.\n\nThis process must be completed for all publishing requests, both for a new app\nthat has not been published yet, or when updating an existing, already published\napp that now uses a different set of data types.\n\nTo ensure this process goes smoothly:\n\n- Use only the data types that are necessary for your app. Provide as much detail as possible when documenting the reason for using a particular data type.\n- [Post your app's privacy policies](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/9859455) on its Play store page.\n\nIf you previously filled out the Google Health Connect API Request form\n-----------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nIn the past, to request access to Health Connect data types, developers were\nrequired to [fill out the Google Health Connect API Request form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1LFjbq1MOCZySpP5eIVkoyzXTanpcGTYQH26lKcrQUJo/viewform?edit_requested=true). If you\nused this form, **you must declare uses of these data types in the Play Console\nby January 22, 2025.**\n\nFollow the process in this guide to update your app registration in the Play\nConsole and declare access to the data types you are already using.\n| **Warning:** If you fail to complete the declaration form before the deadline, you will be unable to send any changes to your app registration for review until you have completed and submitted the declaration.\n\nExplain why your app uses Health Connect data types\n---------------------------------------------------\n\nTo use Health Connect data types in your app, go to the Play Console and fill\nout the **Health apps** form on the **App content** page:\n\n1. Indicate which health features your app supports from the following list,\n based on the Health Connect data types that your app accesses, as shown in\n figure 1.\n\n **Note:** If your app doesn't access any health or fitness information, select the checkbox next to **My app does not have any health features**. \n **Figure 1.** Declare health features used in your app in the Play Console. \n **Figure 2.** Explain how your app uses each Health Connect data type in the Play Console.\n\n The Play Console page includes these health features:\n - Health and fitness\n - Activity and fitness\n - Nutrition and weight management\n - Period tracking\n - Sleep management\n - Stress management, relaxation, mental acuity\n - Diseases and conditions management\n - Medical\n - Clinical decision support\n - Disease prevention and public health\n - Emergency and first aid\n - Healthcare services and management\n - Medical device apps\n - Mental and behavioral health\n - Medical reference and education\n - Medication and pain management\n - Physical therapy and rehabilitation\n - Reproductive and sexual health\n - Human subjects research: Research studies, clinical trials, and patient communities\n2. On the following screen, provide an explanation of how your app uses each\n listed Health Connect data type. The data types appear in the following\n categories, as shown in figure 2:\n\n - Activity and fitness\n - Body composition\n - Energy\n - Nutrition\n - Reproductive and sexual health\n - Respiratory system\n - Sleep management\n\nLearn more about how to\n[provide information for the Health apps declaration form](https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/14738291).\n\nReapply for updates\n-------------------\n\nIf your app has a new data type requirement, or if your app no longer supports\na data type, fill out the **Health apps** form again. Take note of the\nfollowing:\n\n- Include all of the existing health features the app still uses.\n- Include all of the new health features the app requires.\n- Exclude all of the health features that the app no longer needs.\n- Make sure you justify every requested access.\n\nIf you have requested before and you have a new app version, you don't have to\nfile a new request just to change the app version. The data type accesses are\nallow-listed for a package name regardless of app version.\n\nKeep in mind of any unintentional typos in your package name when reapplying, as\nevery submission is treated as a request for a **new** app.\n\nUnable to access Health Connect\n-------------------------------\n\nIf your health app is published in the Play store and released to the public,\nbut you didn't request for data type accesses, your end users receive the\nfollowing dialog when attempting to link with Health Connect:\n\nFurther questions\n-----------------\n\nIf you have any questions or encounter issues in your access, submit a ticket to\n[Health Connect Developer Support](https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/new?component=1676744&template=2072671)."]]
