Get started with AI in Android Studio

Note: You can get higher rate limits by subscribing to Google One. Or, you can add a Gemini API key to expand your context window and pay per token.

To get started with AI in Android Studio, follow these steps:

1. Download Android Studio. Note that some features are under active development and only available through Studio Labs or a preview version of Android Studio.
2. To launch an agent, open or start an Android Studio project and click Agent . Alternatively, click View > Tool Windows > Agent.
3. Use the Agents drop-down to add, configure, and select agents.
4. To use a Gemini model, click the model menu. Sign in to your Google Account if needed, and then click Set up Gemini.
   1. Select Individuals when given the choice of product tier. You can now select a Gemini model to use.
   2. To configure settings for AI in Android Studio, click File (Android Studio on macOS) > Settings > Tools > AI.
